A novel preparation method of supported metal catalysts have been studied using water-in-oil microemulsion. In this work, we controlled the metal particle size of the catalyst regardless of metal content by the microemulsion method and investigated size effects on the catalytic behavior for CO hydrogenation. The rhodium particle diameter of Rh/SiO_2 prepared by the microemulsion method was found to be controlled in the range 1.5-15nm by Changine the water-to-surfactant molar ratio, the type of surfactants, and the synthesis temperature for nanoparticles.
